Dr. Zhou is a Fellow of SPIE (the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers) and a senior member of IEEE. He has published 340+ papers including 25 “Highly Cited Papers” and 150+ papers published in various IEEE Transactions. One of his papers has been listed in “The 100 Most Influential Papers from China in 2019” (Paper no. 25). He was recognized one of the “Highly Cited Researchers” in 2020--2021, 2023 -- 2025. He received the Third Price of Macao Natural Science Award as a sole winner in 2020 and 2024 and as a co-recipient in 2014. Dr. Zhou has been the leading Co-Chair of Technical Committee on Cognitive Computing in the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC) Society since 2015. He has served as a Senior Area Editor for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology and an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, and four other journals.
